NAD Conference 2022

The OmniBridge team attended the 56th Biennial NAD conference held from June 30 – July 4. This conference was a perfect place to gather top deaf and hard-of-hearing leaders from across America and show them our product and how we can make the world more accessible for everyone. People who attended the conference came from across America and had various backgrounds including non-profit organizations, educational institutes, private sectors, Gallaudet University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and state and federal organizations.

A crowd of people checked out OmniBridge’s exhibition booth.

Our exhibition booth was spotlighted and one of the most popular booths. It was very successful for the OmniBridge team, and we were proud to show our product in its early development stage. Attendees were impressed that the alpha product can recognize more than a few thousand signs. Brienna Herold, a data scientist from Netfly, pondered how this product could understand her basic conversions. She signed to the alpha product. Then it captured her continuous signs and translated them into “Can you understand me?”. She talked with our OmniBridge team about how it impressed her. Isn’t that awesome!?!?

The OmniBridge team met one brilliant engineer, Brenden Gilbert, from Meta company. He was astonished to see our alpha product. He tested many continuous signs, “Technology for Good” and “I want more coffee”. Just then, he laughed because he couldn’t believe that OmniBridge’s alpha product could translate his continuous signs into text-based words.

Howard Rosenblum, CEO of the NAD, checked our alpha product at the exhibition. It was a pleasure to see him testing our alpha. He now better understands how far we have developed our technology. He congratulated our OmniBridge team on our progress.

About NAD

The Nation Association of the Deaf (NAD) is the nation’s premier civil rights organization of, by, and for deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the United States of America. Established in 1880, the NAD was shaped by deaf leaders who believed in the right of the American deaf community to congregate on issues important to them at the national level. NAD holds events to build and broaden awareness and support of their work, touch base with and strengthen the community. These events include national and state association conferences, sporting events, tributes, and benefits.
